Why does it say that if you accidentally ingest a poisonous substance, not to induce vomiting?

Because vomiting increases the chance of aspiration, which is when your vomit gets inhaled into your lungs. That can cause you to choke and stop breathing, or it might cause a very nasty, possibly deadly infection. There are ways to treat poisonings other than vomiting,.
