Should I take the pacifier from my son now at 4 months?

I think this is a dilemna every mom faces. I have 3 children and each one was different with this situation. New research shows that it is beneficial for infants to have pacifiers up to one year. I agree with you... you do not want him to start sucking his thumb. Which causes major issues with the child's mouth. If your child really doesn't have much of an attachment to it now - he might not later either. Keep offering it and if he takes it great - if not, don't push the issue. I would only allow it at night or napping, during other times you want to promote chit-chat. Then at 18 months I would ween him. Both of my older kids whimpered for about 2-3 night - Mostly just sitting up in bed looking for it and when they didn't they fell back asleep. I hope this helps. good luck!
